Thank you!

Our 6th grade scientists had a sweet time today! They used gumdrops and toothpicks to build models of a sodium chloride crystal (that’s table salt!) to see how atoms line up. 🧂🔬✨

Reminder: No School - Monday, September 29th

The Vikings dominated John Glenn from the tip off, winning 42-6. Harper Quellet led the way with 12 points and 6 boards while Arinna Mantalvanos provided great inside defense. The Vikings will be back in action on Monday at home against Garber!
The 8th grade girls basketball team beat John Glenn 46-40. The girls played hard and never quit. Top performer of the game was Ryelle Thompson.

Our Esports Mario Kart teams would like to thank Jolt Credit Union for the $500 donation! We purchased gaming monitors the students used in our first match Wednesday night!
The A team won their match and the B team raced hard but fell short on the scoreboard.

🐾 Today, Swan Valley Middle School had a paw-some visitor! Riggs, a therapy dog in training, stopped by to bring smiles, comfort, and lots of tail wags. 🐶💙 Students loved spending time with him, and Riggs is well on his way to becoming an amazing therapy dog.
We can’t wait for him to come back and share more joy with our school community! Big thanks to Mrs. Whelton🦴✨

Great effort from both teams. Their hard work is amazing. The Girls team had 9 finish in the top 25. Kudos to Ainsley Ball for crushing a personal record by shaving off 2 minutes. Boys had 6 top 25 finishes. Shout out to Logan Mersdorf for shaving off quite a bit of time to set his personal record. Other PR's : Unger, Johnston, Whelton, Vannortwick, Oldham, Ittner, Klepsch, Hoffman, Hernandez, and Light !
🚀 STEM on Wheels Came to Swan Valley Middle School! 🌎🔬💡
Our 8th grade science students had an incredible opportunity exploring the Delta College STEM Explorer Bus – a 38-foot mobile STEM space packed with the latest technologies! Thanks to the generosity of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, this program brings STEM careers to life for students across the Great Lakes Bay Region.
Students rotated through tons of fun, hands-on stations to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and math, including:
🤖 Robotic Arm Arcade Crane (Mechatronics & Programming)
🛸 Drone Cage (Commercial Drone Operations)
🔬 Microscopes (Biology & Chemistry)
🖨️ 3D Printers & Pens (CAD)
💡 Snap Circuits (Electrician Skills)
⚙️ CNC Machine (Manufacturing & Design)
🧩 Rubik’s Cube Algorithm Solvers (Mathematics)
👅 Super Taster Genetic Test (Biology)
🎢 Marble Run (Engineering)
🕶️ VR Headsets (Health Science Careers)
Our students had a STEM-tastic day exploring future career possibilities and discovering how exciting innovation can be. 🌟

Way to compete ladies!!!
It was an intense battle, but the Vikings ultimately fell to their rival, Freeland 32-20. Gabby Katz and Valicia Ramirez were excellent defensively and Savannah Cronk and Kennedy Felsing led the way in the scoring column. The 7th grade Lady Vikes will be in the road against John Glenn tomorrow. Shout out to the student section for all the suuport !
