The 8th Grade Lady Vikes Volleyball came out clicking on all cylinders yesterday against Cramer Middle School winning 3 sets to 0. Mya Massey led the way with 20 serving points and 8 aces as her power serve caused a minor earthquake throughout Shields. Jadyn Harltey and Katie McCloskey combined for 25 assists as the two girls were dropping dimes all night for the SV attackers. The Lady Vikes are back in action tomorrow away at their rival Freeland Falcons. Come out and support!

On Thursday, November 9, 8th grader, Sevianna Berlin and 7th grader, Carley Kabobel were awarded the Optimist Award sponsored by the Optimist Club of Saginaw. Carley and Sevianna were recognized not only for their positive attitudes but their ability to spread joy and hope to others. Their contagious positive energy, smiles, and encouragement for others make our school a better place to be. Carley and Sevianna are both members of Be the Change Club and strive to make a difference both in and outside of our school. Congratulations, Sevianna and Carley, on this well-deserved honor. Your optimism is a light that brightens our school, and we are incredibly fortunate to have you as a part of our school and community. Keep spreading your contagious positivity, for it truly makes the world a better place.

The SVMS Cross Country team traveled to Shepherd Tuesday night for the last Tri-Valley Red meet of the year and they scored very well. Twenty-eight Vikings set personal records, beating the previous record of PR’s in one night by ten kids. Great job Vikings!!! Emma Beckman, Sydney Beemer, Stella Frantz, Maeva Sobol, and Ryelle Thompson were all honored for their All Conference status and Addison Ball was first team All-Conference, being the only sixth grader in that elite group. The future looks very bright for our SVMS Cross Country Team. The teams wrap up their season next week with the All Tri Valley Meet and Saginaw County meet, both at Birch Run’s Taymouth Township Park.
