Throwback Thursday: SV Staff
Well, the eighth grade A team had a tough, tough week this past week with double digit losses to both Alma and Ithaca. Fischer Stoney was the leading scorer in both games, scoring six against Alma and 10 versus Ithaca. Gavin Charboneau had 9 and Dom Esparza 8 in the 59-44 loss to Ithaca. Riley Kosanovich, Cooper Habina, and James Lemay had two buckets a piece in the 49-25 loss to Alma. The B team only had one game last week and they suffocated the Alma Panthers for a 45--22 victory. Landen Whelton was the game's high scorer with 11, while Blake Cupp had 8 and Cam Curbery 7. Great job guys. The guys host Bullock Creek Monday night and travel to Standish on Wednesday night.
Congratulations to Kolbi & Garrett !! This week's top Dawgs :)
The Viking 7th Grade Boys Basketball had an up and down week as they started off crushing Millington 41-17. The Viking A team was led by Matthew Moeller who had 19 pts and 8 rebs. On Wednesday, the Eagles of Frankenmuth traveled to our house for two thrilling games. In Game one- the B team lost a thriller 37-34. Carmelo Cases paced the Viking B squad with 13 points and 13 steals.
The second game of the night saw two heavyweight conference foes battle it out. The Vikings jumped out to an 18-0 lead thanks in part to some dominant post play. However, the Eagles stormed back and cut the lead to 5 going into half. In the second half, foul trouble and turnovers hindered the Viking performance, which led to their first loss on the year, 61-53. Sawyer Murphy led the Vikings with 22 points and 11 boards.
Both Viking teams travel to Alma today and will play Ithaca at home on Wednesday. Before the game Wednesday- the SVMS Basketball teams will be hosting a 6th grade boys basketball night starting at 2:30. Students will be participating in drills, scrimmages, and games with our 7th grade teams. Afterwards students will receive free pizza, soda, and entry into the games against Ithaca. This is a completely free event!
