Friday, in 8th Grade Science, students got hands-on with the rock cycle! 🪨🤘🪨
Students shaved crayons to represent sediments, compacted them to form sedimentary rocks, added heat and pressure to create metamorphic rocks, and finally melted them down to form igneous rocks.
To top it off, they got to take their rock-cycle crayons home to color with — a fun reminder that Earth’s materials are always changing! 🌎✨

Students in 6th Grade Careers wrapped up their Agricultural unit by having MSU 4H come in with some farm animals! Students learned all about raising bunnies and chickens. Thanks to Stacie Gath and volunteers for a wonderful lesson!

💜🔬 SVMS Chief Science Officers at SVSU! 🔬💛
Today our Chief Science Officers attended the Winter Cabinet Meeting at Saginaw Valley State University — and what an incredible day it was!
Students explored STEM career sessions across campus, diving into fields like psychology, occupational therapy, business, science, education, and more. They had the opportunity to learn directly from professionals, ask questions, and begin envisioning their own future pathways.
We are especially proud of our own CSO leader, Piper Sova, who hosted a session on networking and professionalism — representing Swan Valley with confidence, leadership, and poise!
In the afternoon, our team collaborated on our spring action plan to help revive and enhance our school courtyard — bringing student voice and innovation back to our campus.
It was a day full of leadership, learning, and Viking pride.
Once a Viking, Always a Viking! 💜💛
