This morning, three Swan Valley students were recognized at the 29th Annual Saginaw ISD Turnaround Achievement Awards. The awards program recognizes one student from each middle school, high school and alternative school in Saginaw County who has demonstrated the most effort, perseverance, and commitment in turning their life around. We hosted our third annual Mock Interviews for 6th grade students today! The event is such a great learning experience which provides students with a safe space to practice and refine interview skills, boosting confidence and reducing anxiety before the actual interview. This event is made possible by local professionals who volunteer! Swan Valley Girls Track Team Shines at Garber! The Swan Valley Middle School girls track team delivered a dominant performance at the Garber MS Tri Meet, capturing two team victories, 79-49 over Garber and 86-50 over Alma. The girls showcased exceptional talent across the board. Standout Performances: Clara Irvine soared to 1st place in the high jump with a mark of 4’4”, leading a strong showing in the event with teammates Kyra Ortner (4th), Azalia Johnston (5th), and Evelyn Miller (6th) also placing. In the 55m hurdles, Swan Valley swept multiple top positions with Penelope Weyand placing 2nd (10.22), Nalini Nguyen 3rd (10.71), and Clara Irvine again impressing in 4th (10.82). Stella Frantz dominated the 70m dash, taking 1st place with a time of 10.05 seconds, outpacing a deep field of sprinters. In the 200m hurdles, Swan Valley earned a 1-2-3 finish led by Weyand (1st), Irvine (2nd), and RadeWahn (3rd), showcasing their depth in hurdles. Addison Ball won the 400 meters (1:10.38), with strong support from Olivea Hernandez (3rd) and Lorraine Danielski (6th). In the distance events, Evelyn Miller finished 2nd in the 1600m (6:41.24), and Gianna Rodarte led Swan Valley in the 3200m, finishing 2nd overall. The girls 4x100m and 4x400m relays were both victorious for Swan Valley. In the long jump, Alexis Unger and Krislyn Thomas tied for 5th (12’3.5”) while Ryelle Thompson placed 7th. Willow Vaughn threw 27’11” to place 3rd in shot put, with solid efforts from teammates A’Riyah Clement and Piper Sova.
