A Winter Wonderland! ❄️❄️
Members of SV NHS helped out with Special Olympics today. Over 170 athletes enjoyed sledding, skiing, snowshoeing and crafts! And our Vikings were with them every step (or sled 🤣) of the way!

VIKING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (WEEK of January 26th)...
Swan Valley Athletics is honoring four Viking Athletes of the Week from last week. Congratulations to Maurice Villegas (Freshman Boys Basketball), Henry Boehler (JV Boys Basketball), Olivea Hernandez (JV Girls Basketball), and Norah Jennings (JV Girls Basketball) for earning this prestigious award!
Here is what their coaches had to say about them fulfilling one or more of the Viking Athletic Core Values:
"Mo is our energizer bunny. He consistently gives 100% effort and always hustles on the basketball floor. He often has the hardest job on the floor due to his motor, which is guarding the other teams best player. Tonight during the freshman's win vs Hemlock, Mo and his hard work and effort paid off with a season-high 17-points! Keep up the great work Mo!"
"Henry displays great sportsmanship and is an amazing team player. He always shows up with a smile on his face and represents Swan Valley proudly."
"Norah has grown significantly this year as a basketball player. She comes to practice everyday ready to work. Norah is developing into quite the basketball player. She can play just about every position on the court and is committed to doing whatever she can to help the team. Norah is competitive and driven. She had a fantastic week this past week getting rebounds and made a clutch free throw against John Glenn with little time left to make it a two possession game and seal the HUGE victory."
"Olivea is a true team player that is committed to doing whatever it takes to make the team better. Olivea does many things that don't necessarily show up in the score book, but significantly contribute to the overall success of our team. Olivea has a nose for the ball and often is the leading rebounder. Olivea is always flying to the ball and has no issue ripping the ball out of someone's hand if they stand still with it. Olivea has a great attitude and her commitment to the team and coaching staff is unwavering."

Saturday, the guys and some of our girls competed at the TVC Tournament. The boys had 10 placers and came away with a 4th place finish and 3 champions. The girls competed in the first ever girls TVC tournament and become the first girls wrestling all-conference recipients.
Our girls were back in action Sunday at the Hemlock Girls Tournament, with 2 placers including 1 champion.

Our Lady Vikings won the Valley challenge with an impressive 29-1 score. Above average honors go to Isabella Haley with a 183 game. Great job Ladies!
Our Viking Boys represented the Valley well with a tie in points but took the loss due to overall pins. Above average honors go to Blake Cupp with a 187 game and Clark Lowery with a 138. Keep up the hard work!
Our next meet is next Saturday at our home lanes against the Garber Dukes. Please note that the starting time has been moved up to 8 AM. See ya at Crooked Creek! Go Vikings!

The JV Lady Vikings have had a busy couple of weeks on the hardwood. On Tuesday January 20th, they defeated a scrappy Alma team by a score of 37-23. Solid defense in the second half allowing only 7 total points helped lead them to victory.
On Thursday January 22nd, the JV Lady Vikings defeated Garber with a score of 38-30. Olivia Randall and Poppy Weyand led the way in the points department while Norah Jennings and Olivea Hernandez dominated in the rebounding department.
This week, the Lady Vikings started out against a solid and disciplined Hemlock team and dropped that game by a score of 28-34. The team took this as a learning opportunity and it showed as they defeated a very good John Glenn team Thursday by a score of 38-34. The Lady Vikings trailed most of the game but wouldn’t quit fighting, out scoring the Bobcats 14-4 in the 4th quarter to lead them victory. This brings the JV Lady Vikings' record to 9-3.
