On October 25, Freeland High School is hosting a Mobile Hiring Combine in partnership with the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights. This event is similar to the NFL Combine but instead of sports it is focused on careers. High school seniors and adults from the community will have the chance to demonstrate their skills in front of contractors who are ready to hire. Participants will go through a series of hands-on challenges while potential employers watch, and many will walk away with immediate job offers. There is a strong need for workers, especially with solar farm projects in Essexville, Saginaw, Bad Axe, Gladwin, and Yale, along with other types of construction and millwright work across Michigan. This is a tremendous opportunity not only for our students but also for the greater community as excellent pay, pension, and benefits are available.

Please share this information and help us pack the parking lot so that as many people as possible can take advantage of this opportunity. If you have any questions please let me know.

VIKING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 22nd)...

Swan Valley Athletics is honoring 2 more Viking Athletes of the Week from the week of September 22nd. Congratulations to Norah Jennings (Freshman Volleyball) and Ryder Stipanovich (Varsity Boys Soccer) for earning this prestigious award!

Here is what their coaches had to say about them fulfilling one or more of the Viking Athletic Core Values:

"Norah was voted captain for a good reason. She is a great leader on and off the court and has been showing up and giving 100% every game and practice. She also has been improving every single day and giving us a stellar performance each game."

"For every training/game you can find Ryder at the field 30-40 min early. He's always preparing and making sure he's ready for what's to come. Ryder is that student athlete that any coach would love to have. He leads by example and that's giving 110% all the time. For his senior year that effort is paying off and he leads our team in goals with 21 on the season so far. Ryder is humble and knows his success comes from the team. He cares deeply for his teammates. Ryder keep the work going and finish out your senior season strong."

VIKING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 15th)...

Swan Valley Athletics is honoring another 2 Viking Athletes of the Week from the week of September 15th. Congratulations to Poppy Weyand (JV Volleyball) and MaryGrace Luplow (Varsity Girls XC) for earning this prestigious award!

Here is what their coaches had to say about them fulfilling one or more of the Viking Athletic Core Values:

"Poppy comes to practice eager to learn. She is very coachable and a very hard worker. Poppy always comes to practice with a positive attitude and is willing to play any position. We are very excited to see her grow as a player on the volleyball court."

"MG consistently demonstrates what it means to be a dedicated and hardworking athlete. She is always on time, never misses practice, and gives her best effort every single day. MG goes above and beyond in workouts, setting the tone for her teammates with her determination and positive attitude.
