⭐Student Spotlight: 8th Grade Scientists in Action! ⭐ Our young Vikings took over the classroom today — and they crushed it! 🔥 Several brave student volunteers stepped into the teacher role to lead mini-lessons on fossils, stratigraphy, and the Law of Superposition. Their explanations were clear, their confidence grew with every minute, and their classmates loved learning from them. Seeing these 8th graders shine — leading, teaching, and building real scientific understanding — is exactly why we love hands-on, student-led learning. So proud of these future Paleontologists! 🦴🌍👏

SV Racers were finally back in action yesterday. The B team won their match against Reed City 2-0 with Ashton leading the way as a top racer! The A team fought hard to force a third round but took a tough loss against Holly. Spencer was the top racer this week. I couldn't resist snapping a picture of Ben and Eli's screen. 😂

The 7th and 8th grade volleyball team dinner was an udderly amazing success — we really nugget-ed together as a team! Between the laughter, stories, and team spirit, everyone was mac-nificent. The Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets were the real MVPs of the night — crispy, golden, and egg-cellent fuel for champions — while the mac and cheese had us all cheesin’ from ear to ear. It was the perfect recipe for a winning night: a dash of friendship, a sprinkle of teamwork, and a whole lot of sauce-ome memories! Big thanks to Mrs. Wagner, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Horny, and all the 8th grade A parents for chipping in!

💜🔬 Girls’ STEM Day Out at Delta College! 🔬💜

What an inspiring day for our SVMS girls! After an empowering opening ceremony featuring a keynote STEM speaker, we celebrated as Libby Theisen won an HP laptop! 🎉💻

From there, the day was packed with hands-on exploration and creativity:
💧 Hydrological cycle games 🌧️
🤖 Robotics and AI tools 🤖
🗣️ Debate and communication workshops 💬
🔥 Hands-on Welding 🔥

Lunch at the Red Brix Café fueled their curiosity as our girls connected, collaborated, and discovered the many ways they can change the world through STEM! 🌎✨
All the ladies who came qualified by writing an essay for Mrs. Blaesser about why they want to explore a STEM career in the future!

We are so proud of our future scientists, engineers, and innovators! 💪💜

The Swan Valley 7th grade volleyball teams began their season on the road Wednesday night against the Frankenmuth Eagles. Despite only a few days of practice, both the A and B teams turned in strong performances to earn opening-night victories. The B Team controlled play from start to finish, sweeping the Eagles in straight sets by scores of 25–13, 25–14, and 25–12. Grace Ittner led the Vikings in serving with 8 points and 4 aces. Harper Ouellet added 7 points and 3 aces, while Valicia Ramirez contributed 6 points and 4 aces. Ramirez also made her presence felt at the net, providing key plays that helped secure the sweep. The A Team faced a more competitive Frankenmuth squad but came away with a hard-fought victory in three sets. Swan Valley edged the Eagles 25–21 in the first set, dropped the second 23–25, and then dominated the third 25–12 to claim the match. Ali Stockford led the team in serving with 8 points, followed by Gabby Katz, who recorded 6 points and 5 aces. Katz also paced the team in kills, while Lauren Key, Arianna Mantalvanos, and Ava Howe each added one. It was a strong first showing for both teams, and their teamwork and energy promise an exciting season ahead. Come cheer them on at their first home game on Monday against Alma!

🎃🧪 Halloween Fun in 6th Grade Science! 🧪🎃
Things got spook-tacular in 6th grade as students mixed up some science magic with potions and mixtures! From bubbling brews to mysterious reactions, our young scientists explored how substances combine and change — all while having a blast.
A big shoutout to Mrs. Simons for turning science into such a fun and engaging learning adventure! It’s amazing to see students so excited to learn (and maybe cast a few science spells along the way)! 👻⚗️✨

Halloween
Thanks to all of our S.V.M.S.parents for the generous donations of wrapped Halloween candy to help our art classes fill nearly 160 decorated treat bags for the children at the Underground Railroad Shelter here in Saginaw. We couldn’t be successful in our community service mission without your support.
