Varsity Soccer hosted the Swan Valley Invitational on Saturday, taking on Nouvel, Bay City Central, and Saginaw United. The Vikings had a great day on the field, winning the tournament championship and outscoring opponents 22-2.
The defensive line of Zoey Steiner, Jaidyn Rethman, Zoe Ecker, Lexi Ittner, and Olivia Randall played strong all tournament long, locking down the back field and allowing the midfield and strikers to stay on the attack. Kaydence Walsh was solid in goal and gave the team confidence every game.
Freshman Stella Frantz led the offensive attack with 6 goals in 3 games.
Stats:
• Stella Frantz — 6 goals, 1 assist
• Olivia Horwath — 4 goals, 3 assists
• Kinsey Kaul — 4 goals, 3 assists
• Olivia Randall — 1 goals, 3 assist
• Emily Krantz — 2 goals, 5 assists
• Zoe Ecker — 2 goals
• Eve Schicht — 2 goals
• Cadence Raymond — 1 goal
• Sylvie Johnson — 1 assist
• Charlotte Bittner — 1 assist
• Zoey Steiner — 1 assist
Special recognition to Kara Wingerter and Aeris Hickey for outstanding games and the energy they brought throughout the tournament.

Thanks to an amazing group of parents, our staff has been feasting this week. First up was Chick-fil-a on Monday, followed up by Qdoba on Tuesday and Pizza Hut on Wednesday. Amanda Terrian and some very generous parents keep the generosity flowing with Tropical Smoothie on Thursday and our own Student Government will be providing Intermission Deli sub sandwiches on Friday. All weeks are great to be teachers, but this week seems extra special.

VIKING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (WEEK of April 27th)...

Swan Valley Athletics is honoring 5 Viking Athletes of the Week from the last week. Congratulations to Greer Diefenbach (Varsity Softball), Owen Hare (Varsity Boys Track), Dawson Gebauer (JV Baseball), Colten Ray (JV Baseball), and Emily Krantz (Varsity Girls Soccer) for earning this prestigious award!

Here is what their nominators had to say about them fulfilling one or more of the Viking Athletic Core Values:

"Greer Diefenbach is the definition of consistency and dedication. She gives her best every day, working hard in practice with an unwavering commitment to improvement. A true team player, she shows up ready to work without complaint, always putting in the effort in practice, the classroom, and the weight room. She is a quiet leader who leads by example, doing what’s asked of her without hesitation even when it’s not always what she prefers. Her selflessness and reliability make her someone her team can always count on. She’s sharp, witty, and intelligent, with a tough exterior that gives way to a genuinely kind and lovable personality. On the field, she continues to shine in the outfield, using her speed, strength, and grit."

"Owen achieved a new PR in the 400m of 51.90, which is the 2nd time he has set a new PR this year, besting his 2025 PR by almost 2 seconds. He was also a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay that won the Nite Trax invitational and achieved an early qualifying time to qualify for the state finals! Owen is always up for a challenge and comes to practice every day willing to work harder than everyone else, even asking to do extra reps in the workouts after everyone else is done, and his hard work is showing with these achievements!"

"Colten Ray, “C Ray”, has been one of JV’s most consistent players. He is usually the team’s clean-up batter. He has a .420 batting average with 21 hits on the season, and 17 RBI’s on the season. He has a .565 on base percentage, walking 17 times with a good eye at the plate. Defensively, he has caught 73 innings, and has caught 8 runners trying to steal. C Ray also plays third base and pitches. Great job this season!"

"Dawson Gebauer, “little ditty”, has also been one of JV’s most consistent players. He is usually the team’s lead-off batter. Dawson has a .457 batting average with 21 hits on the season, including 2 home runs, and 14 RBI’s on the season. He has a .597 on base percentage, walking 16 times, and only striking out 9 times so far this season. Defensively, Dawson plays mostly third base, and pitches, pitching the most innings on the team with 19.2 IP. He leads the team in strike outs, with 34, has a 2.847 ERA and an opponent batting average of .234. Great job this season!"

"Emily came into this season both mentally and physically ready to give everything she had, but what she’s brought to this team is so much more than just effort. Emily has an infectious personality that lights up everyone around her. Her teammates gravitate toward her, not just because of her talent, but because of the energy, belief, and heart she brings every single day. She doesn’t just play the game; she elevates it, inspiring her team to reach goals they once thought were out of reach. As the season pushed on, so did Emily. When others got tired, she lifted them up. When challenges came, she faced them head-on and brought her team with her. Playing nearly every position and rarely stepping off the field, her dedication and selflessness are never unnoticed. She leads with positivity, demands excellence, and shows what true leadership looks like in every moment. And what makes Emily even more remarkable is who she is off the field—an exceptional student and a role model in every sense of the word. Congratulations Emily!"

Viking Pride!

JV Baseball split with John Glenn last night, losing the first game 5-6, but coming back and earning the victory in the nightcap, 5-4. It was an exciting finish in the second game as our Vikings were down 3-4 going into the final inning, when Noah Smith cracked a triple over the right fielder's head. Andrew Carter then got hit by a pitch. Brayden Tracy came in clutch, with a bunt that scored Smith from 3rd. Then Tracy stole second, which drew the throw from the catcher to score Carter to win the game 5-4!
Habina pitched the first game, pitching 5.0 innings, with 8K's and 3ER. Darabos started the second game on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings, striking out 4. Gebauer came in relief, pitching the final inning with 0ER. Ray caught both games, throwing out two runners stealing.
Offensive leaders were Smith, with 4H and 1RBI. Darabos with 2H and 2RBI. Gebauer added 2H, and Murphy, Bauer, and Tracy added a hit and RBI each.
JV plays at Chesaning Wednesday.

Vikings soccer hit the road and took care of business at Garber, earning a strong win over the Dukes.

With Kaydence Walsh in the net, the team played with confidence from the start. She anchored the defense with 11 saves, helping set the tone for the match.

Emily Krantz got things rolling early, finding the back of the net. Kinsey Kaul followed it up with another goal, and Olivia Randall closed the door with two goals of her own to seal the victory.

Just as important was the defensive effort, as Jaidyn Rethman, Sylvie Johnson, Lexi Ittner, Stella Frantz, Olivia Randall, Olivia Horwath, Cadence Raymond, and Zoe Ecker locked things down and kept the Dukes in check all game long.

A complete team win for the Lady Vikings.

Stats:
• Olivia Randall — 2 goals
• Emily Krantz — 1 goal, 1 assist
• Kinsey Kaul — 1 goal
• Eve Schicht — 1 assist
• Olivia Horwath — 1 assist
