Hi Seniors,
We were hoping that today the Governor would lift the restrictions from Phase 4 for our area, but sadly that did NOT happen. With that being said, we can only allow 100 people outdoors on our campus at a time so we had to divide our graduating class into two groups. Please try your hardest to make arrangements to attend on Wednesday, June 24th on the High School Football Field. Groups are divided as such:
Last Name: A-K 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Last Name: L-Y 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Please check your email for all the fun events that we have planned for you! We are excited to see you!

Seniors-
Either late Friday night or early Monday morning, I will be sending another email with information about cap and gown pick up. Mr. McRae, Ms. Hanson, Mr. Blower, Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Pieske and Mrs. Kolevar would like to invite you to a fun event full of excitement, activities and surprises! The event will be between 7:00pm – 8:00pm, sometime during the week of June 22nd. We are just waiting on the next Governor’s Executive Order for social gatherings to open up to 250 so that we can all be together one last time before graduation. Keep checking your email!
Ms. Hanson

June 1, 2020 was supposed to be your graduation date. Due to circumstances beyond everyone's imagination and control, that is not possible. Although this is not a replacement for a "normal commencement," we still wanted to join you in celebrating your graduation on your original date. We look forward to July 27, 2020 as we plan to host an in person event to truly recognize your high school graduation as conditions allow. There is an old adage "the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray" (attributed to poet Robert Burns) and there is no truer example of that statement than the current pandemic. We would like to acknowledge the volunteers of the Graduation Committee, Mrs. Lalejini for her outstanding work on producing this video tribute and Mrs. Mazany and Mr. LaBrake for their work over the last four years with the Class of 2020. Congratulations Swan Valley Seniors! Please enjoy the Class of 2020’s video recognition by clicking on the following link: https://bit.ly/SVHSGraduation

Today would have been Decision Day in the Library where all students stood up and said their future plans in front of all of their peers. We are disappointed that it didn’t turn out as planned, but we had a lot of fun putting together this video congratulating our seniors on what they’ve accomplished and what they plan to do in the future. Please watch and share in the fun and congratulate any seniors you know. They’ve worked hard this year and earned a celebration!

Attention SENIORS! If you are interested in performing a school-appropriate song for the online graduation, please submit a formal audition (full song) in MP3 or MOV file to Mr. Blower and Ms. Hanson no later than May 26.

Dear Class of 2020 Parents:
We are working on a collage of memories for the Class of 2020 online graduation experience that will take place June 1st. Here is where you come in: please submit ONE photo of your child (in a group, etc) at a school event, sporting event, etc from elementary, middle, or high school. You pick the era! (Please label with your child's name and the era.) Photos are due Tuesday, May 26 to ensure Mrs. Lalejini can complete the video in time.
Please email your photo to Mrs. Lalejini: alalejini@swanvalley.k12.mi.us
subject line: MEMORY PHOTO (so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle!)
Thank you,
SVHS Staff

Students: Assignments will be graded on a CREDIT / NO CREDIT basis. It is the expectation of everyone that students continue to turn in assignments to their teachers. Just a reminder, students must achieve credit in their graduation required courses to earn their diploma. Thank you.

Parents and students:
Here are some suggestions for all grade levels to keep students active and learning during the mandatory closure of schools in Michigan.

Your teachers will also be providing some suggested activities specifically related to your classwork.

How about this fantastic idea! For those home with children when schools are closed...how about having your kids write notes, color pictures and mail them to local nursing care centers. We are unable to allow visitors at this time and our seniors need to know we are thinking of them. Thank you.
There are several Medilodge facilities as well as others! Great idea thanks to Liz Schrems Peters💜

Big news: Swan Valley High School Library and the Alternative Education Department received a 2020 #DLDay mini grant from @ALAlibrary to do #AppliedDigitalSkills programming in partnership with @GoogleForEdu! Keep an eye out to see what we accomplish! #digitallearning
