Swan Valley Middle School Families:
We are reaching out to all families regarding the return to 100% in person instruction beginning on March 15th, the hybrid groups will be eliminated and all students will return to in person instruction OR choose to remain in the remote learning model for the remainder of the school year. We are excited to bring a majority of our students back to the buildings and return to a semblance of normalcy.
As we bring the majority of students back into the buildings for face to face instruction, the building continues to maintain as many of the recommended safety protocols as possible, but with more students in the building we want you to be aware that six foot social distancing is not possible. As student density increases, social distancing will be maintained to the maximum extent possible in classrooms and common spaces (hallways, cafeteria), but most likely less than six feet. All other safety protocols will remain in effect (universal mask wearing, hand washing, sanitizing of surfaces after use, hallway markings, etc.).
Because a portion of our student population will continue to learn in the remote format and we will quarantine students as necessary due to COVID exposures, we will continue with the Remote Wednesdays for all students for the remainder of the school year [The dates are: March 17, 24, April 7, 16(Friday), 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19, 26 and June 2].
On these dates, the buildings will be open for students to attend the Internet Cafe (7:30 - 2:25) to access the internet and receive academic support and structure from our instructional support staff and their teachers. Families and students may CHOOSE to attend the Internet Cafe, but will need to provide their own transportation. Students who are potential retentions, based on their first semester grades, will be required to attend the Internet Cafe. Families were notified in writing of this potential in January. Bussing will be provided for in district students to attend the Internet Cafe. All students attending the Internet Cafe will be provided breakfast and lunch. Students who are identified as required to attend the Internet Cafe and DO NOT ATTEND will be marked absent.
Bus routes and pick up times will also be changing as the number of students receiving transportation will be increasing on March 15th. The new bus routes and pick up times are attached to this message.
The middle school staff will continue to offer Virtual STAR from 4:00-6:00 each Monday through Thursday. Students are required to register ONCE for Virtual STAR. Once registered, students will receive a daily email with the Zoom login information to attend STAR on that day. The link to register for Virtual STAR can be found by clicking here.
As we return to more normal instruction, we thank you for your support during the school year, and your flexibility as things continue to change. If you have any questions, please contact the building office and once again, thank you for your support and understanding.
