Swan Valley School District Families,
As most of you are aware, part of the transition to a 1:1 learning environment six years ago was researching the various “learning management systems (LMS)” that were available. An LMS allows for electronic sharing and submission of assignments. We decided on Schoology and implemented the “free version” for all third through twelfth grade students and teachers.
However, with the pandemic and the increase need for LMS systems nationwide, Schoology has been saturated with customers. As you may know firsthand, this has caused many functional issues and the company is no longer supporting schools who use the free version of their product. The company, Powerschool, owns Schoology and they offer a paid product called Schoology Enterprise. Moving from the free version to the paid version not only helps to guarantee functionality for our teachers and students, but also provides enhanced features that provide further benefits to the electronic learning environment.
At last night’s meeting, the SVSD School Board approved the purchase of this new product. The onboarding process has begun and full implementation should occur within seven days. Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support for getting through these challenging times.
